Surrender

Surrender is defined in the dictionary as to “cease resistance to an enemy or opponent and submit to their authority.” The enemy we are talking about is your ego and the authority is God.   Completely surrendering means letting go, allowing the river of life to float you to your destination. As much as you want to take the oars and steer the raft yourself, DON’T! Just sit back, and be unbothered with the ebbs and flows of the waves.   Be immersed in your journey. In fact, the journey is part of the destination. So you might as well enjoy the ride along the way.

You can also look at the ride of life as a roller coaster. The initial anticipation of riding a roller coaster produces much anxiety in your body. You start to doubt the choice… “Should I even get on this ride or not?” You eventually get on, holding on tightly, trying to control the ride, even though you have no control over it at all. The only person in control is the one at the control panel, which is actually God. So you might as well just sit back and enjoy the ride. When the anticipation builds to the breaking point, that is usually when you let out a scream or nervous laughter. It’s scary, liberating, fun, all wrapped into one. At that point, is when you completely let go… because what else are you gonna do? The same applies to the ride of life, you might as well buckle up. Completely surrender and know you ARE going to make it to your destination. Just know that God is the one that is in control. He’s the operator, not you.  You do not need to do anything except take the action to get on the ride, and let him guide every up and down. The ride may not be fun at first, but I guarantee you’ll have the time of your life along the way.
